This Blog is For the Birds!

Hi Everyone!

First off, let me wish my brother, David, a most excellent birthday! Happy Birthday, Bro!

Now, let's get right to it. Last weekend, Glenn had a meeting Saturday morning, so I grabbed the camera and decided to take a long walk along Bayshore.

The gulls were lined up to help a fisherman clean his fish.

It was a beautiful morning. Birds of Paradise were in bloom.

Bunnies were frolicking in the grass.

Butterflies were flitting about.

Just a lovely walk.

On Sunday, we went to two parks up near Tarpon Springs we had never been to before.

The first was Fred Howard Park, which is mostly comprised of an apparently very popular little beach.

It was pretty darned crowded. Plus, a storm seemed to be rolling in.

Uh-oh
So we took a quick walk around a little trail there and headed to park no. 2 where, surprisingly, it was completely sunny and fine.

Park No. 2 was the Brooker Creek Nature Preserve, with miles of well marked trails, which is good, because Glenn and I tend to get lost easily. We took an hour long hike, and it was very pretty.

The boardwalk is just at the beginning of the trail. Glenn screamed and jumped because he almost stepped on a snake.

We also met some friends along the way, including Mr. Gopher Tortoise...

And Mr. Buzzard.

So finally, I will share with you today's pics. It was like a baby bird bonanza at the lake I walk at during lunch. I tried two days to get good pics of all the little birds with my iPad, but I was too far away. The third day, I took my camera, framed up a beautiful pic, and the camera shut down with a dead battery. (ARGH!!)

So today I took the recharged camera and was rewarded for my persistance.

First, meet these strange and fuzzy little guys - there are three of them that have been hanging out in the same spot all week.

I've also seen a bunch of moorhen chicks, and they are incredibly tiny and adorable.

Mama feeding her baby.
Look at his tiny little wings!
I apologize, but I couldn't stop myself.

After the moorhens told me to go away, I still found a number of birds who seemed interested in having their picture taken.

Beautiful!
And then, lookee! A night heron. I've never seen one of these at the lake before.

Pretty eyes!

Even my Anhinga friend wanted in on the action.

So anyway, hopefully that gives you enough birds to get you through the holiday weekend. I'll throw in some flowers for good measure.

That's all folks! Hope you enjoyed the pics and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Love ya!
