Getting the New Year Off to a Fresh Start

Hey Everyone -

Hope that you, like us, had a lovely and quiet holiday season at home. There is not too much to blog about except that we've been doing lots of things around the house, so I will share those.

Once we found out Glenn still had a job, he decided to finally give himself a real office, since he had been working in our random painting/miscellaneous storage room off of a card table since March. Although he had a terrible time putting his desk together, he's very happy with the final results...which include the biggest computer monitor known to man. He also got a new painting desk.

Feeling the competition, I cleaned out my office, bought a new rug and some decor, and replaced Eva's giant wire crate with a smaller, nicer version (which she has utterly rejected.)

Since Eva is afraid of her new crate, Deuce has claimed it as his own.

Most of the time, they both just lay near the crate, which drives me crazy.

This is how I work. Or like this:

In addition to fixing up the home office, I repainted the guest bathroom, painted the doors, took down the nasty blinds on the outside door and replaced them with a frosted contact paper, and replaced the old medicine cabinet. I'm in the process of updating the artwork on the walls as well so I'll take more pics later. This brown was the old paint color.

And this is the new paint color (Adobe Sand)...plus the new door paint and frosted glass.

All this started by me building that entry way cabinet in November. And then I decided to paint all the doors and baseboards in our master bedroom and bath (because they were cream color and everywhere else in the house they were white). And then we had to update the blinds in the bedroom. And I replaced the blinds on the doors with curtains. And then we had to replace the lampshades and comforter. And the towels and bathmat, and the AC return grate, and on and on into infinity and beyond. I should mention I've been on steroids for a while which make me a little insane and prone to take on projects and organize things.

I even put little shelves in our tiny toilet room.

Oh also. We got a frog.

We took down all the Christmas decorations the weekend after New Year's, but somehow I managed to keep our poinsettias alive this year, so I put them out on the porch with the frog.

Speaking of Christmas decorations, I'm not sure if I showed you how we had our living room set up, but it was nice.

Also we had a cozy fire sometime over New Year's.

We also attempted our yearly family selfie, which is always a delight.

Here's one of the outtakes.

Deucie played with his stuffed monkey for like 2 hours on Christmas morning. It was insane.

In other news, I think you know that Glenn had his bike all lit up and he made some new friends in the process. This "light up bike club" (I forget their official name) went out for a ride all around Safety Harbor the other night and Glenn joined them. People cheered everywhere they went. Anyway, they started off at the marina, and a professional photographer asked to take their picture. This was the super cool result. Glenn is the first one on the left in the green shirt with the mask.

Ok...will wrap things up with a bunch of photos Glenn gave me a while ago. I know, for example, that he really wants to show you guys this guy that caught a shark.

And here are some other assorted pics from the Causeway.

Dolphin!

Ok - I think that's about it. I'll leave you, as I usually do, with sleepy puppies.

Happy New Year, Everyone!
