Miami, South Beach, Another Walk in the Woods, and More!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all having a nice summer. This past week, Glenn headed to Miami for a work trip.

He was very excited that the rental place gave him a cool muscle car.

He took some time to cruise around the hopping district of South Beach, famed for their Art Deco style.

He also took the opportunity to walk along the beach one morning around sunrise.

Cruise ship coming into port.
Glenn got home, after a delayed flight, on Friday night. Saturday, we did nothing blog worthy. We laid around, I took a nap - it was a very quiet day, followed by a nice dinner out.

Sunday, we decided to rouse the dogs...

Really?
...and take them on a walk back at John Chestnut Park. There was a trail we wanted to try, but sadly, once we got there, there were no dogs allowed on that trail. But we still were able to take a lovely walk with the pups.

Just beautiful!

Here's me and FrankenMo. (She got her stitches removed this morning and is doing well.)

And here is one of the greatest pictures of all time...

Our eager beagles.
Once again, we came upon a family of deer. They let us get quite close to them, even with the dogs, and there were a number of little fawns.

A little hard to see the deer here, but you get a sense of how big the trees are...

This is better.
Why helloooo there!

That night we went to Clearwater Beach for a casual dinner, and then went over to the Sand Pearl resort again to hang out by the beach and listen to some calypso music.

You'll be shocked to hear that we didn't stick around for the sunset. But it still was a nice ending to another fun week here in Florida.  Miss you, guys! Stay tuned - more to come! :-)

Anniversary Spectacular!

Hi Everyone -

It's been another great week here in Florida and we once again find ourselves with too much to blog about. So be patient, grab yourself a cool beverage, and read on...

I start way back on Wednesday of last week, when poor Mojo had to have some minor surgery to remove a couple of cysts.
Poor FrankenMo...all stitched up.
She had a rough day, but is doing much better now.

Thursday was the 17th...also known as our 21st Anniversary. Good grief! Time flies when you are having fun!

Anyone remember this?
So we didn't really have any plans for Thursday, but I made us some crab legs for dinner and we went to Shepard's Resort in Clearwater Beach.

The same day, 21 years later

They had a band playing and have their own little beach - I guess the place has been around for a long time.

Speaking of sunsets, at some point during the week, we had a nice one to watch right from our front porch.

We also found this guy on the front porch. Just hanging around.

Mr. TreeFrog
On Saturday, we hit the road in the morning and headed to John Chestnut Sr. Park in nearby Palm Harbor. For reasons that will soon become obvious, this is my new favorite park.

One of the things I had said when we set off on Saturday was that it had been a while since we'd seen an alligator.

So we took care of that.

This was the little one. Probably less than 2 feet long.
This was the bigger one - probably around 4 or 5 feet long.

Lizard in the Spanish Moss.

This was quite a pleasant surprise...

Oh, hello there!

So that gives you a pretty good sense of our gorgeous day at the park.

When we got home, the day had really heated up, so we decided to take a swim.

Deuce really seems to be enjoying swimming now. He jumps into the pool all by himself!

Hooray!
Saturday night, we had reservations at a waterfront restaurant called Oystercatchers. It is supposed to be a great place to watch the sunset, but sadly, it was cloudy and grey that night, so we didn't see it, but we still had a tasty dinner.

Also, we still got to see some wildlife on the water, like this very large and friendly Wood Stork.

The waitress treated us to a couple glasses of wine for our anniversary, and we took them down to sit by a bonfire on the water.

Another wonderful weekend with my sweetie. So that's it for today's blog post! Hope you enjoyed it. More to come next week!
