Walktober Continues

Hi Everyone -

The beautiful weather has continued this past week as Glenn did more traveling for his Making Strides Walks across the state, and I did my daily morning walks here in Safety Harbor.

First some pics from my various strolls around town...

One day I went over to Phillipe Park to walk on a cool, breezy morning. It's hard to believe I can just get up and walk along the water like this.

These are from another walk along Bayshore.

If you look closely, you can see an Anhinga drying out his wings on the beach.

Each day, I said good morning to a new friend.

Good morning, Mr. Alligator!
Good morning, Mr. Stork! (It's hard to tell, but this guy is huge. And he was eating a Vlasic pickle. ;-)
On Friday, I had my best sighting of all. I walked down the pier and on my way back, I saw a big nose pop out of the water. Turned out that a family of manatees were playing next to the pier. I saw a couple of manatee babies trying to dunk each other, and a few adults. Manatees are hard to photograph, because they only come up for a second, but...

Good morning, Missus Manatee!
Meanwhile, Glenn had flown to West Palm Beach for a few days, and then drove to Orlando for his biggest Strides Walk yet. 60,000 people turned out for this event, and they shut down the streets in downtown Orlando for it.

Glenn also got these pics from Orlando.

He got back Saturday, and we went out for a nice dinner Saturday night.

Sunday morning, I took him on a walk with me - promising sightings of manatees, alligators and more. I did not disappoint. You'll note the picture quality improves when I have Glenn and his camera with me.

Good morning, Mr. Egret!
Yay! My manatee friend returned.
Not sure what kind of bird this is, but he could use a hair cut.

Guess what this is?
Ta-da!

A cactus patch in Florida. Who knew?
Anyway, so that about wraps up this week of walks. I walked the dogs every day too! Oh, by the way, Mojo asked me to post her first selfie...

Hello!
Anyway, hope you all all having a good week. We'll be back in the burgh in just a few weeks. (And how bout dem Stillers?!)

Lator, gators!

Walking on Sunshine

Hi Guys -

Sorry I didn't post anything last week. Glenn was in Miami from Thurs through Sat for a Strides event, and then Sunday he had to go to Orlando, so we didn't have the chance to go on any non-work related adventures.

In the meantime, Fall has arrived here in Florida. The temps have been in the low 80s for the highs and 60s for the lows. The humidity seems to be gone. We have turned off the AC and opened the windows. It's beautiful.

In fact, Friday morning, I was inspired by the sunny, brisk morning (55 degrees) and decided to skip the gym and go on a long walk instead. Inspired by my mother, I decided my destination would be the Starbucks in downtown Safety Harbor. I bundled up and headed out at 8 am.

 Come and walk with me.

See the mist rising off the water?

I took a little cut through this neighborhood park.

It was pretty seeing the sunlight filter through the spanish moss on the trees.
I believe this is called a Staghorn Fern - people have them hanging on trees all over down here.

After 45 minutes, I finally made it to downtown Safety Harbor.

And ultimately, to my final destination.

TA-DA!
There, I paid $5 for a tiny complicated coffee. (Mom would be proud!) I got a small, non-fat, no whip, iced Pumpkin Spiced Latte and gulped it down in about three sips. By now, the temp had gone up to 68.  That probably gave me enough sugar and caffeine to turn right around and head back home to the pups, who were probably wondering when breakfast would arrive.

Before I left, I did go and get a glimpse of the harbor to give myself a feeling of accomplishment.

I didn't take any pics on the way back, because I decided to book it straight home. Still, round trip, it took me an hour and half, and the pups were very happy to see me come in at 9:30.

Saturday morning, Glenn and I got up early and drove to Sarasota for his Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk there. The event was held at the Sarasota Polo Club, which was a beautiful venue, and about 6,000 folks were there to walk the 3.1 miles with us.

Polo horses!
Some nice houses along the route too

We had lunch in Sarasota and then drove home, and hung out with the dogs for a while, including this guy.

So handsome!
That night, Glenn took me to an amazing dinner at Caretta on the Gulf at the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater. There were several weddings happening on the beach below us. One of our fellow diners took this pic of us.

Sunday morning was another beautiful morning, so Glenn and I decided to dust off our tennis rackets and attempt to play.  Suffice it to say, we were terrible! But we had a lot of laughs and got a great workout out of it.

Later, we got some packed lunches and took a blanket for a picnic lunch in Phillipe Park.

All in all, we had a wonderful weekend together. This morning, despite my legs aching a bit, I took another walk and made it to Tampa Bay.

Hope you all are well and enjoyed the pics! Love you guys!
