Westward Bound: Vegas, Zion & Bryce Canyon - Part 3, The Grand Finale

Hey guys -

Congratulations, you've made it to the third and final installment of the Zion blog series.

Before I continue on our journey, Glenn reminded me that we had a pic that Matty had taken when he was near the top of Angel's Landing. So this gives you an idea how crazy steep and high this is.

This is Matty's hand, gripping the chain while climbing. Crazy!

Ok, so back to business. The next day after the Narrows, we drove to Bryce Canyon. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Hurricane to get there (so 5 hours round trip). That morning, Glenn told me the temp would be in the 80s, so I put on a tank top and shorts. He did not look to see what the temp would be in Bryce. By the time we got close, the car thermometer said it was 47 outside. 😱

We had to stop at a very weird General Store in the middle of nowhere and bought sweatshirts and sweatpants so we wouldn't die.

Here are some pics from the drive there.

We drove straight to the end of the the Bryce Canyon scenic stops and then came back and stopped at each one, rapidly taking pics in the freezing wind. It was breathtaking! (literally!)

This looks like a castle!

Ooh, I forgot. We saw another deer.

By the time we got back, we'd been driving for over 8 hours so we were pretty beat, but it was well worth it. Bryce was like being on another planet.

Our final day in Hurricane, we took it pretty easy. We strolled through the Red Hills Botanical Garden, which is free to the public, and located right next to Dixie Rock/Pioneer Park.

These are two dinosaur footprints from when this rock was a sea bed. They think this is from a dinosaur that was swimming and pushing off the bottom of the sea with his feet. Crazy!

That night, we drove back towards Zion for a dinner at the Wild Thyme Bistro, which was a beautiful, scenic spot for our last dinner in Utah. It is on a farm and people eat on the porch or the lawn, surrounded by mountains.

So that's all, folks! The next day, we drove back to Vegas and flew home. Hope you've enjoyed our trip pics. Love you!
